I used to be so scared to talk to my teachers about my anxiety. But I realized they can’t help me if they don’t know what’s going on. I now write down how I feel and hand it to my teacher privately. It’s less scary than saying it out loud.

One tip I learned is to start with the school counselor. They usually know how to approach teachers for you or even help set up a meeting. It’s helped me get extra time on tests when I’m feeling overwhelmed.

What helped me most was writing a “Mental Health Plan” with my therapist and sharing it with school staff. It outlined what I need during bad days. They appreciated the clarity and now know how to help.
